Job Description: 

The analyst role will entail conducting detailed fundamental analysis of Asian businesses listed on global equity markets.

Key Responsibilities: 

The role holder will, over time, be responsible for generating company investment ideas and providing support to the more senior members of the team. They will be expected to present their ideas to the senior investment team and provide updates on company, sector and economic developments as they arise. The role holder will report directly to the local CIO but will seek guidance from other senior members of the investment team. 

Detailed Responsibilities Include: 
• Research and fundamental analysis of companies across Asia.
• Developing and maintaining fundamental financial models of investment ideas of their respective team. 
• Conducting industry analysis and peer reviews 
• Ensuring that all information is accurately recorded and updated on an ongoing and timely basis. 
• Presentation of findings and contribution to investment committee meetings 
• Due diligence should include sources from: 
   o Company report and accounts. 
   o Direct contact with company management teams. 
   o Sell side and investment industry analysts 
   o Discussions at conferences 

   o Site visits

   o Competitors and industry experts

   o Any other legal sources of information 

• Ongoing maintenance of the business and financial models ensuring any in house databases are kept up to date with accurate figures and detailed assumptions underpinning the forecasts. 

• Over time the analyst will be expected to be able to establish and manage efficient and effective relationships with companies, brokers, industry experts etc 

• Key involvement in identifying, recruiting and managing supporting analysts and other junior investment team members. 

• Supporting the product marketing and investor relations activities as required.


Business Knowledge: The role holder will have will have at least five years experience in a related financial or accounting role and have a deep understanding of how companies operate and the interpretation of reports and accounts. 

Requirements and Technical Expertise:

• Detailed knowledge of companies, markets and industries. 

• A high level of knowledge of accounting and financial valuation metrics. 

• Fast at assimilating information and providing results in a timely fashion. 

• Natural ability to seek out information and think independently 

• High level of proficiency in Excel, Word and information systems 

• Proven ability to produce financial and business models of companies and to stress test key assumptions in order to ascertain intrinsic value. 

• Highly numerate with a very strong attention to detail. 

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required with the ability to present and challenge complex information to companies and the investment committee 

• Should be a self-starter, highly driven and possess a strong desire t commit to a long term career in investment management 

• A demonstrable ability to prioritise, multi-task and work to tight deadlines. 

• Experience of successfully generating investment ideas and staying informed of company and economic developments. 


• UK Degree level or equivalent. Science, Finance, Economics, Law, or similar preferred. 

• Proficient with IT products, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Bloomberg 

• Relevant industry qualification would be advantageous.

The role holder will be required to quickly and pro-actively build upon a value driven investment process and to use the value investment framework of company analysis that can be used to generate investment ideas. They are expected to demonstrate a team orientated attitude and a willingness to undertake a wide range of activities and responsibilities. They will be expected to work independently with a low level of direct supervision and to demonstrate a strong desire to innovate and drive the analysis of investment ideas and performance. 

Fluent written and spoken English is a pre-requisite, with an additional Asian language being a considerable advantage.
