This position reports directly to the Asia Business Manager.  General Statement of the Job:
The Asia Transportation Manager plays the key role in satisfying internal and external customers by ensuring the right material is sent and received on time every time and by coordinating efforts to create a more efficient and effective supply chain.  The Asia Transportation Manager will work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and third party warehouses to facilitate and track the movement of material.  This individual will have a significant influence on the logistics processes in the Asia region and will participate in regular meetings held to improve the supply chain.     

Education and Experience:
College degree preferred and 5 years of experience in multi-modal transportation/supply chain management.
Experience in operating Oracle database preferred.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in English and Chinese required.  Additional language abilities in Korean and Japanese are a strong benefit.
Must be detail-oriented and pay close attention to accuracy.
Excellent customer service skills.
Must be extremely computer proficient.
Experience dealing with hazardous material and/or import/export is a great benefit.
Must be able to successfully complete training related to transportation of hazardous materials, including courses in Federal, State and Local regulations for the storage and transportation of hazardous material. Ability to properly handle confidential information and records.
Able to analyze information gathered in order to identify potential problems or discrepancies.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to travel internationally periodically.  Primary destinations would include Korea, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, and USA.
Must be able to successfully pass employment physical, drug screen, and background check.

Principal Duties:
1. Perform cost studies for transportation throughout the Asia region (with a focus on mainland China).
2. Prepare and implement processes and concepts that fulfill the purposes of: (1) reducing logistics costs for customers and (2) creating a more efficient and effective supply chain.
3. Assist in negotiating existing contracts and establishing new contracts with third party logistics providers.
4. Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments of hazardous materials and non-hazardous materials with freight forwarders, customs brokers, third party warehouses and transportation providers, and company counterparts in the area of origin/destination, door to door.
5. Assist in coordination efforts for shipping returnable containers to country of origin (primarily USA).
6. Communicate orders to third party warehouses and transportation providers and coordinate efforts with them to ensure on-time delivery of all required materials to final destination. 
7. Perform transactions within Oracle to reflect the movement of materials throughout the process. 
8. Track international shipments for the Asia region.
9. Coordinate efforts with other Asia counterparts and receive cross training that will allow coverage of responsibilities in multiple geographies.
10. Prioritize job tasks to ensure that critical responsibilities are performed in a timely manner.
11. Be effective as an individual contributor and a solid enhancement for any team environment.
12. Interact effectively with customers, suppliers, and coworkers.
13. Follow established Standards of Procedure (SOP) and industry best practices.

15. All other duties as required.

Internal Relationships:
Asia Business Manager:  The Asia Transportation Manager is directly accountable to the Asia Business Manager.  The Asia Transportation Manager will receive regular training, guidance, and direction from the Asia Business Manager.  The Asia Transportation Manager is responsible for keeping the Asia Business Manager informed of progress and problems in meeting goals, status of resources, and informed of any other issues which would impact the goals and expectations for Asia business.

US Region Asia Transportation Manager:  The Asia Transportation Manager will work closely with the US Region Transportation Manager to ensure the most efficient processes and best practices are adapted for our customer world-wide.
